Vinyl Rack by Rolf Hesland

Description

Rectangular Vinyl cabinet model 'Scala" designed by Rolf Hesland in 1966 and in production the same year at Bagn Møbelfabrikk. Rosewood frame structure, with vertical drawers, handle and chromed wheels. Highly collectable piece that enjoyed commercial success thanks to its functional design. ———— Rolf Hesland started at Bruksbo design studio in 1950. During the early years he designed a series of armchairs, including Metro and Tuba. Together with Torbjørn Afdal, he developed the shelving system Veggen de Luxe which was a huge commercial success. In 1958 he then designed the armchair Fox. Unique to Fox were the two layers of stretched leather with a layer of moulded polyester in between, providing the back with a distinct shape and stiffness. Hesland’s most famous piece is the LP record cabinet Scala, produced by Bagn Furniture from the second half of the 1960’s.
