'Fox' Armchair by Rolf Hesland

Description

Armchair model 'Fox' designed by Rolf Hesland in 1958 and produced by Haug Snekkeri AS. Massive oak wood, stretched leather seating with back with polyester stitched between the leather upholstery. The chair is in excellent vintage condition. ———— Rolf Hesland started at Bruksbo design studio in 1950. During the early years he designed a series of armchairs, including Metro and Tuba. Together with Torbjørn Afdal, he developed the shelving system Veggen de Luxe which was a huge commercial success. In 1958 he then designed the armchair Fox. Unique to Fox were the two layers of stretched leather with a layer of moulded polyester in between, providing the back with a distinct shape and stiffness. Hesland’s most famous piece is the LP record cabinet Scala, produced by Bagn Furniture from the second half of the 1960’s.
