Description

Circular coffee table in massive rosewood, model 'HX' - designed by Arne Halvorsen and produced by Rasmus Solberg from 1960. Part of Halvorsen's signature 'H' series which he began to design in the mid 1950. Most of the furniture from this series have become norwegian mid century classics. ———— Arne halvorsen graduated from the National College of Art and Design in 1955. That same year he designed his first furniture classics in the H-series for Rasmus Solberg M.belverksted, and was employed at Rastad & Relling design studio. In 1960 Halvorsen established his own office. Dining chair 9 (J.ren) was awarded first prize in the Industry Council for Furniture and Furnishing Industry’s chair competition. The dining chair and sideboards of exceptionally high quality were produced by the firm L. Jacobsen. P.I. Langlo produced several of Halvorsen’s extraordinary sculptural sofas and armchairs, including 2010-H. His most important accomplishment was the development of a new office furniture system for Nob.. Halvorsen has also had an important role as an exhibition architect.
